Jorthang: A three day-long Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) Training for beneficiaries under the Skilled Youth Start-Up Scheme (SYSS) concluded in the conference hall of Karfectar, Jorethang today. The training organized by Positron Computer Education Institute, Gangtok in collaboration with District Industries Centre (S/W) Jorethang had the participation of 41 beneficiaries under SYSS from both South and West Districts.
The closing session had the presence of Chairman Commerce & Industries M.B Chettri who graced the event as the Chief Guest in the company of GM DIC (S/W) Kerzang D. Lassopa, Assistant Director (West) A.D Rai, Inspectors Anula Gurung, Julyian Chettri and Joseph Bhutia along with MD (Positron Computer Education Institute) Jaganath Sharma.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman of Commerce and Industries Department M.B. Chettri underlined the objective of the EDP training which he said was to facilitate and develop entrepreneurial abilities among the beneficiaries under Skilled Youth Start-up Scheme (SYSS) in order to aid the entrepreneurs to conceive, plan, initiate and launch an economic activity or an enterprise successfully. The Chairman in his address called upon the entrepreneurs, particularly the youth of the state, to pursue their aspirations and work hard towards utilizing the government sponsored schemes and focus on being job givers rather than jobseekers.
He further assured to provide all aid and support from his end in bridging gap between the government, the department and the entrepreneurs if they face any issues of any nature.
GM DIC (S/W) also addressed the trainees wherein she emphasized the importance of why EDP plays a mandatory and essential role in facilitating banks to provide loans to the beneficiaries under SYSS. She briefly spelled out the seriousness of the three-day-long EDP session, which will equip the beneficiaries with the required skills and knowledge needed for starting and running their respective enterprise.
In the course of the three-day training programme w.e.f October 30 to November 1, 2021, various resource persons specialized in the field of sales and marketing, finance, planning, consultancy, bookkeeping of accounts and various other components required to develop and hone entrepreneurial traits imparted an extensive course to the 41 beneficiaries.
