Pravin Upreti (Sociology), Praveen Basnet (Political Science), Nakul Sharma (Physical Education) and Lok Nath Chettri (English) were expelled by the college disciplinary board on feburary 4, 2021 still remains an unsolved puzzle, the issue has distingused two separate groups one in favour of expulsuion and other demanding to revoke the expulsuion order. The four expelled students were also not allowed to sit for their university examination.

Kishore kumar rai, principal in-charge Sikkim government college clarifying the expulsion objective said “The demonstration done by the students at the Gangtok was against the disciplinary laws of the college administration and due to which four of them got expelled from the college”

“we do not breed students to protest in this college” he added

When the students were not allowed to sit for the examination Praveen Basnett one among the expelled student submitted a petition in High court of Sikkim.

The proceeding of the case commenced on March 22, 2021 wherein justice Jiterndra Kumar Maheshwari stated “learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner strenuously submitted that the students have been expelled by an order dated 19.02.2021 of the principal referring some rules and regulations of the college based on general body meeting dated 10.02.2021. thereby, the petitioner who were studying have suffered with loss of education on account of such expel.”

During course of hearing, it is being asked by the court that whether the decision of the general body dated 10.02.2021 has been challenged based on which the order impugned is passed by the principal. It is further asked that what are the rules and regulations as referred in the order impugned.

Learned council is unable to point out the same expect to sat that he is not having the decision of the general body and also the rules”

“after hearing learned counsel for the petitioner, in the opinion of the court, as prayed by him, the time to make appropriate amendment in the writ petition along with relevant material is allowed”

“counsel for the petitioner shall also p-produce, rules and regulations of the college and also the decision the petitioner’s consul in supply of the copy of rules and regulations and decisions of the general body.”

Further in support of the students members from many associations came forward, on march, 21, 2021 joint press conference was called by various associations including SIBLAC, I am 371f, SPYF wherein Passang Sherpa, I am 371f said “ " in favour of the students, association  more than 20 have come together to make a request towards Sikkim government through the medium of press conference that those students who had to face the ill-treatment and harsh decision of the government should be re-instate to protect their future and would like to appeal on behalf of the forum to support the students and revoke the expulsion order”

Similarly, Bharat Basnett, "In today's Sikkim society there has been a most heart breaking situation which happened in month of February, where four college students had been expelled from the college. Since then, this issue has been covered by different news channels. However, the non-governmental and governmental institutions have come along to stand in favour of these students and provide them with full justice."

"People who believes in democracy and rights to equality in society, for those kind of people this  situation has shocked the people. this is our request to the Sikkim government that the expulsion should be revoked and they should be given a chance”

The government of Sikkim being It the former of the current, government has always given first priority to the education part, and always listened to the demands made by students and have effortlessly tackled the same, however in this case of expulsion the government has been shut and have refused to take any stand, which marks the same earlier question: Was Students wrong on inviting the Education minister for 10 Minutes of talk? Was students wrong on demanding for the delay in construction of the college campus?.
