A case against 35 year old man was registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) at Singtam police station on October 22.
A written FIR was received at Singtam police station from Mangan PS mentioning that on October 21 a written zero FIR was received by Mangan PS from Counsellor, District Child Protection Unit, North Sikkim regarding a minor girl being sexually assaulted by her step father. The FIR mentioned that the minor revealed everything during a counselling in reference to a case.Initially, a case was registered at Phodong PS.
According to the police report, “the minor revealed that she was sexually assaulted continuously by her stepfather since 2016 in a place at East Sikkim. The report further reads that she had mentioned about the incident to her mother who did not pay any attention to her. Minor was assaulted by her step father in 2020 before the lockdown, added the police report.
Further the accused has been booked under section 376 OF IPC, 1860 and r/w Section 06 OF POCSO ACT, 2012 and is taken under the custody.
