State’s youngest positive patient discharged after recovery
Gangtok, July 4: In an amazing development from the COVID-19 dedicated wing of the STNM Hospital, Sochayghang, it has come to light that the youngest COVID-19 positive patient of the state who was a 2.3-year-old child, was able to make a successful recovery and discharged from the STNM Hospital after repeated tests on July 4.
The 2.3-year-old patient who tested positive on June 13, was under the care of another COVID-19 patient whose 3-year-old child had not tested positive for the virus. In a heartwarming turn of events, two mothers had swapped their children after the toddler and a mother tested positive but the toddler’s other and the other 3-year-child did not test positive for the virus.
Hence, the youngest patient was in the care of a positive woman, whose negative 3-year-old in the custody of the unaffected mother at a quarantine facility.
The Director-General cum Health Secretary, Dr. Pempa T. Bhutia through his daily Health Bulletin on July 4, informed of one more positive case in the state. The newest COVID-19 positive patient was quarantined at Himalayan Pharmacy Boy’s Hostel and had entered the state on June 24 from Maharashtra. The patient has been shifted to the Isolation Ward of the COVID-19 dedicated wing of STNM Hospital.
Contact tracing of the patient has been completed and primary contacts will be tested shortly, as informed by Dr. Pempa.
