SSS President and Members arrested; pre-meditated arsonry case slapped after investigation
Sikkim Suraksha Samiti president along with three other members were arrested after a police investigation pursued in the arsonry case, wherein the dharna stall in front of DAC Gangtok was set on fire, allegedly by unknown miscreants. The police investigation revealed that the members themselves had pre-planned and staged the whole enchilada.
SP, Gangtok District made the revelations public after they summoned a press conference in Gangtok. It was informed that after a thorough canvassing of different CCTV footages, it was found out that one of the SSS members set fire to the stall themselves.
The IPC sections slapped onto the members by the police were Sections 182 (False information to a public servant), 211 (False charge of offense made with intent to injure), 120B (Criminal Conspiracy), 435 (Arson Misled by Fire), and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC 1860, which were all registered under case no: 213/2022.
According to the investigation, anti-social element were not involved in the incident, but it was planned by the Suraksha Samiti itself, according to the SP Tenzing Loden Lepcha (IPS), who made the statement in the presser held by Gangtok District Police.
