Sikkim’s young woman Cricketer Ms. Dikcha Gurung has been selected for U-19 Women’s One-day Challengers Trophy 2021-22 to be held at Jaipur, Rajasthan from 25th October to 7th November 2021. Recently she gave an outstanding performance in U-19 Women’s One-day trophy held in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.
She played all six(6) matches in BCCI U-19 Women’s One-day Trophy 2021-22 and took 11 wickets. In all India ranking, she was ranked 12th in most wicket-taker, 5th in the most maidens over bowled and 6th in most dot ball bowled in the tournament.
Diksha Gurung, aged 15 is the d/o of Feroz Gurung and Laxmi Sunwar from Middle Chuba, South Sikkim. She is a student of Chuba Secondary School and is studying in class 10. She was selected for Sikkim U-19 Women’s team in the season 2019-20. The season of the year 2020-21 U-19 tournament was not held due to COVID-19. So, practically this is the second season she has been representing SICA in the National Tournament. She was coached and mentored by Shri. Samabdup Bassiv Bhutia was the headmaster of Chuba Secondary School. Mr. Samabdup is a cricket enthusiast and a Level ‘O’ Coach of SICA. He had coached and mentored eleven (11) girls out of which six (6) have represented Sikkim U19 Women’s team. Currently, Mr. Samabdup has been promoted as a Principal of Gelling Senior Secondary School, West Sikkim.

I like to extend thanks to everyone involved for her success specially SICA for nurturing her and letting her believe that with hard work, dedication, and sheer determination anything can be achieved. Along with her bowling, she also displayed the skill of a mature batter. She is truly an inspiring and big asset for team SICA.”
