Sikkim to go for 7-days complete lockdown starting from May 17 till May 24.
The government of sikkim today announced that Sikkim will go on 1 week lockdown keeping in mind the daily increase in COVID-19 cases in the state.
About 800+ Covid-19 Positive cases were recorded in the past week with 30+ Deaths.
Sikkim had earlier put restrictions on inter-district movement in which no vehicular movement, as well as no persons, could ply outside their district and which was supposed to end on May 16.
However, Home Department, Government of Sikkim today issued a notification which stated that the state will go for 7 days lockdown starting May 17, 5:00 am till May 24, 5:00 am.
It mentioned “ All state government offices, shops including ration, commercial establishments, institutions, gymnasium, markets and factories other than engaged in the production of medicines, medical equipment, oxygen and allied sectors shall remain closed.
“Central government offices shall operate as the instructions of the government of India. The officers and staff working in such offices shall be allowed to travel to their offices and back during the period on the production of valid government ID.”
Furthermore, the notification started that movement of peoples and vechiles required for all essential services including milk, food items, vegetables, animal food, petroleum product, medical supplies, LPG shall be allowed on approval from the concerned DM, SP or SDM.
During the lockdown period only Medical shops shall be allowed to remain open and milk vending shops shall also be permitted to remain open from 7 AM till 11 AM.
