Sikkim reports highest single day surge in COVID-19 cases for 2021 with 148 testing positive and one new death

Sikkim on April 25, recorded its highest COVID-19 cases with 148 new COVID-19 cases, the biggest spike of 2021 which creates a record in the highest single-day rise for Sikkim pushing the state's coronavirus caseloads. To date the state has recorded 1,071 cases in April, with the confirmed cases in Sikkim now reaching 7158, the active cases being 798, while 6069 cases have recovered with 137 deaths. On Sunday, another COVID-19 death was reported, a 50-year-old man who had tested positive in Rapid Antigen Testing.
East Sikkim has again recorded most of the COVID-19 cases, West Sikkim recorded 8 new cases taking the district tally to 401 cases so far. The state government also declared Paljor Stadium to be a COVID-19 center due to the surging cases in the East district.
North Sikkim has not recorded a single case for two days now after recording 33 cases in the past 16 days. In total, the district has 88 cases recorded so far. South Sikkim had 14 new cases on Sunday and has recorded 119 cases in the last 20 days.
Where 672 tests were done on April 24, with 552 of them being RT-PCR which has resulted in 120 positive results. 112 tests were Rapid Antigen Testing which has resulted in 26 testing positive.
Looking at other states of India, Maharashtra on Sunday reported 67,160 new cases with 676 deaths, a little more than the day before when it reported 66,836 cases. The state also has reported.
Similarly in the northeastern state of Manipur 30,421 people have so far tested positive for the novel coronavirus while 29,231 out of 30,421 have recovered, with 385 deaths. 104 new cases being reported from the state on April 25. Manipur now has 590 active cases. Altogether, 1,18,215 people have received the vaccine shots in the state.The state conducted 6,01,600 sample tests for COVID-19 thus far, including 1,799 during the day.
