Gangtok: Sachitananda Biswakarma, a 18- year-old boy from Sikkim, has cracked the National Defence Academy (NDA) in his first attempt, securing All India Rank (AIR) of 291.
He hails from Chalisey, Rhenock under Pakyong District. His parents are Lok Bahadur Biswakarma and Sushila Gautam, and he was raised along with one sibling, Sisher Biswakarma.
“ I appeared for the examination last year in November. The entire process till the selection was almost seven months. I am happy I could make it in the final list” he said while talking with SIKKIM CHRONICLE.
He will now join National Defence Academy in Pune for the training of three years, after which he shall again undergo one year training at Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.
Stating that the handwork, perseverance and time management plays a key factor in preparation, he said that the interest of joining defence started in his school days.
“ I was in class XI when I came to know about NDA and since then I fascination of joking defence got converted into career option” he added.
He completed his schooling in Science from Government Senior Secondary School, Rhenock.
“ My teachers, parents and others who paved a way for me in achieving my dream deserves Mu sincere gratitude. They have helped developed my personality which is one of the most important factors in the Service” he further added.
