With the advent of an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Sikkim, many youngsters have come up with numerous new ventures in Sikkim, not only the youth, but people of all demographics have been keen to start up a startup. It is with zest and zeal that the Sikkim government have also held a great deal of stakes in the budding new ecosystem. With schemes like One Family- One Entrepreneur in tandem with policies like One Family One Job, the government have extended a helping arm for the ecosystem.
Incubation foundation like, AIC-SMU Technoloogy Business Incubation Foundation (AIC-SMUTBI), which is an Incubator supported by AIM, NITI Aayog, Government of India has been selected by Startup India, Department of Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India to provide financial assistance to startups for proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry, and commercialisation of Product.
Currently, there are 769 startups registered with Startup India Portal out of which only 31 incubator has so far been listed in the portfolio of Startup India SeedFund Scheme. AIC-SMUTBI is one of the latest additions to their portfolio.
AIC-SMUTBI supports startup at their early stage of the venture and is sector agnostic. It currently has 73 startups from all the states of North East India and also other parts of the country working in domains like Defence, Aerospace, Agriculture, EdTech, e-Mobilty, FinTech, FMCG, HealthCare, IOT/ML/AL, Tourism etc.
With advent of such incubators, with government intervention and all the strides that local companies and start-ups are taking to build a sustainable entrepreneur ecosystem, strides are definitely taken in the right path.
Sajilo services not only aims to streamline the service sector but it is also encouraging small business owners in Sikkim to scale up by giving them an opportunity to present their services online and helping them in creating a brand recognition.
