NHPC, Teesta-V Power Station, Teesta-VI HE Project and Teesta-IV HE Projects celebrated 47th NHPC Raising Day on November 7, 2021 at its Balutar Colony, East Sikkim by following COVID-19 guidelines.
The celebration was inaugurated by lighting of lamp by S.P. Mukherjee, Executive Director, Siliguri Region along with senior officers of NHPC. Speaking on the occasion, S.P. Mukherjee said that NHPC has become a one-stop destination in the area of Hydropower development in India with its rich technical know how and expertise by having vast experienced engineers and other highly skilled workforce.
“It is the occasion to remember the contributions of Engineers and technically sound manpower, who had contributed magnificently in early days of NHPC to make NHPC a premier hydropower utility not only in India but also abroad” he added.
Furthermore, he also highlighted that Teesta-V Power Station has become a model hydropower station in India and recently been awarded with prestigious “Blue Planet Prize” by the International Hydropower Association (IHA) during World Hydropower Congress, 2021 on 23.09.2021 for sustainable development of clean power.
He also stated that NHPC is leaving no stone unturned to complete Teesta-VI HE Projects as per schedule. Further, Teesta-IV HE Projects is also paving its way towards gaining the confidence of local people and other stakeholders.
Jitendra Kumar, General Manager (Elect), Teesta-V Power Station said that the role of Hydropower is vital in Grid stability and carbon less power generation. It is excelling with resilience also to fulfil the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030.
This was followed by cultural programmes. Artists thrilled the gathering with their awesome performances. Employees of NHPC and their family members, Students and Teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya, NHPC, Singtam and Local people also witnessed the colourful event. At the end, S P Mukherjee inaugurated Food Stalls and Game zones kept by Ladies Club of NHPC as part of the celebration.
