National Green Tribunal stays the construction of multi level car parking in Gangtok.
Dr Bina Basnet had approached the national Green Tribunal, eastern zone bench, Kolkata against the construction of multilevel car parking in Gangtok, East Sikkim.
After hearing the application the NGT has passed the interim orderdared 18/01/2022 staying the illegal construction of multi-storey building.
The applicant apprised the tribunal that construction of the building should not be more than five and half story in height as the himalayan state, Sikkim falls under the sysmec Zone -4, Which according to the applicant(Bina Basnet) is considered vulnerable.
The tribunal further has directed the central government, state of Sikkim, Gangtok‘s Smart city development Ltd, Department of mines and geology & urban development and housing department to file the reply And has fixed the next date of hearing on 2nd of March 2022.
