Chairman NMC Ganesh Rai flagged off the Pipe Band Contingent of Namchi Girls’ Senior Secondary School to New Delhi, on Friday.
The Contingent set out to attend the National Level Pipe Band Competition 2022-23 to be held in Delhi on 22nd January as a part of National Level Republic Day Celebration.
They started their journey from Namchi to Bagdogra Airport at 4:30 Am in the morning and at 12 Pm and 4 Pm they’ll be flying to Delhi respectively.
Director Samagra Siksha, Education Department Milan Subba, CEO Namchi K. Imbaraj, Joint Director G.P Sharma, Deputy Directors Angela Chingapa and K.B. Gurung, Assistant Directors A. K. Dural, Sunita Pradhan and Pempa Bhutia (Samagra Siksha, Gangtok), Principal, Teachers and guardians were also present during the flag off ceremony.
The Contingent is escorted by Principal (NGSSS) Bandana Rai and teachers Rinzing Ongmu Sherpa, Lakpa Lamu Sherpa and Bhim Psd. Sharma.
The school was selected as the winner of State Level Competition organised by Samagra Siksha, Education Department. After which they cleared the National Semi-final through Virtual Mode and now they will be participating in National Level Competition representing Sikkim.
It is to be mentioned here that the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang had presented an amount of Rs Three Lakhs to the school for the upgradation of Band and Sound accessories. Further DC Namchi had also provided financial succour of Rs Fifty Thousand and Thirty Thousand by Samagra Siksha to the school for which the principal has expressed her deepest gratitude for their kind gesture.
