District level Narco meeting to ‘curb narcotic trade and abuse’ held at Mangan

District Magistrate Mangan Hem Kumar Chettri, chaired the 3rd meeting of the District level committee of Narco Coordination Centre (N-CORD) to scrutinize and analyse the measures to curb narcotic trade and abuse in the district.

Along with DM Mangan, Hem Kumar Chettri, the meeting had the presence of SP Mangan, ADC Dev (Chungthang) ,SDMs, and concerned head of office from line departments.

An interactive session discussing the varying roles and responsibilities of the concerned departments was set forth. Concerns regarding the importance of establishment of a de-addiction infrastructure in the district were also discussed. The meeting also saw discussions on the varied means that can be adopted to disseminate awareness about the issue, such as participation of students in the Student Cadet Programme, Coordination with the village drug monitoring committee, conducting sessions on the issue in Gram Sabhas and so on.

DM Mangan, addressing the committee mentioned the need for everyone present to collectively put effort to curb drug abuse in the District. He highlighted the need to launch awareness campaigns to make the general public aware about the ill effects of drug abuse and the role they could play to curb incidents of substance abuse in the district.
