Day 1 of five-day-long Khangchendzonga Adventure Meet 2020 kicks off at Pelling

Pelling, December 25: The first Khangchendzonga Adventure Meet 2020 kicked off from December 25, 2020. The inaugural day was graced by the Deputy Speaker Sangay Lepcha, Government of Sikkim. The five-day event was organized to revive, promote and upgrade adventure tourism in Sikkim, with eight adventure sports lined up for the audience to take part in.

The event also includes Sikkim's first national paragliding accuracy Olympic trials championship 2020, which was flagged off by the Deputy Speaker. 13 teams from 12 states participated with a total of 52 pilots, who took off from Karki Dara Pelling and landed at Tejuk ground.

The inaugural day ended with a veteran’s football final which was played in the memory of Lt. Topzar Bhutia, former Vice President, Pelling Tourism Development Association and Lt. Tshering Wangdi Bhutia, former President of Pelling Tourism Development Association. The match was played between 72 battalion SSB, Yangtek and veterans contractors, wherein veterans contractors won by scoring two goals against nil.
