President of India, Droupadi Murmu makes her maiden visit to Sikkim on 3rd-4th November 2022.
It was only a few weeks ago when Sikkim was cenferred with the 3rd best-performing state of the year award under the small States/UTs category. The award was presented by President Murmu during the Swachh Bharat Awards 2022. Now President Murmu, after assuming her office has made her first visit to the state scheduled in her four-day trip to visit Nagaland, Mizoram and Sikkim s from November 2 to 5.
After President Murmu’s arrival in Sikkim, scheduled for Friday, November 4, she is expected to meet dignitaries, the Governor and the Chief Minister of the state prime among them, and is expected to flag off different projects, many virtually from Manan Kendra in Gangtok, where she will be arriving for civic reception, cultural programme and virtual inauguration and foundation stone laying of projects of State and Central government.
The President will be inaugurating:
Atal Setu via Duct at Rangpo
Two Lane Chisopani Traffic Tunnel including approach roads in East Sikkim
VC Ganju Lama Girls Hostel, Ravongla.
She will be further laying foundation stones of:
NIT at Khamdong
Widening and Improvement of Road from Namchi to Birdang via Kichi Dumra
District Hospital, Singtam
World Renewal Spiritual Brahmakumari Centre, Namchi
She will also visit Char Dham (Siddhesvara Dham) at Namchi and meet women entrepreneurs of several SHGs.
President Droupadi Murmu has already arrived in Gangtok today on a two-day visit to Sikkim. The President and the visiting entourage reached the Army Helipad in Libing by Indian Airforce Aircraft Mi-17, this afternoon.
President Murmu was accorded a warm reception by Governor Ganga Prasad, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Arun Upreti, Senior Cabinet Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha along with Chief Secretary V.B. Pathak, Director General of Police, A. Sudhakar Rao, GOC, 17th Mtn. Div., Major General Gambhir Singh, AVSM and top state government officials.
A guard of honour was offered to the President by the 23 Rajput Battalion on her first visit to Sikkim.
