The competition fit for life bases on a two-minute video dealing with anything to do with fitness from push-ups, pull-ups, burpees, lunges activities or anything under the broad range of fitness from running, cycling. The participants can demonstrate their fitness exercises or regimes. Registration on Eastmojo.com/Fitforlife on East Mojo’s website getting you on board on the act of fitness.
They must ensure that their videos shared over social media gets the #Fitforlife tagging East Mojo and Futsal Association of Sikkim (FAS). Once registered, based on likes, subscription and comments, judging will be carried out.
To inculcate that people are in the fitness groove, inspiration can be derived from a lot of online competition that have happened for music and other performing arts. Fitness has been an attempt to bring on the online platform. Fit for life, sponsored by the Sikkim Government’s Sports and Youth Affairs Department, powered by East Mojo across Northeast India, with Nutrition Partner Steadfast Nutrition and Decathlon as Sports Partner providing the gift hampers for the winners.
The event was informally launched on 10th of September, but in due course in needs more mileage till the entries are closed on October 2, with 15 days of scrutiny. So far, 300 entries have been received by East Mojo. After October 2, there would be other half of the fitness event, but duly the registration are welcomed only online. The entry is free, but the winners will be getting cash prizes.
The competition will be judged by technical advisor for FAS, one from media fraternity and people from Northeast to decide the winners of the competitions. The competition aims at promotion of sports, not merely dealing with Futsal but any other sports from boxing jabs to whatever you are good at. There are considerations on making the event having different rounds as it progresses.
It was a think tank between Karma Paljor Editor-in-Chief of East Mojo and Futsal Association of Sikkim. Sports and community activities have been on a downward curve because of COVID-19 pandemic. To let the world know you are alive and kicking with a fitness video of yourself.
Sikkim Futsal Association was formed in 2017 and has sent three Futsal teams for national tournaments under the Futsal Association of India. The three tournaments were in Goa, Cochin, and Bengaluru. From the 2018-19, five players were selected into Indian national team, three of whom represented India in the Futsal World Cup in Colombia in 2019. Of the 13 goals scored by the country, 11 were scored by the Sikkim players, garnering respect from their counterparts at the national level. The executives always look forward to participation from Sikkim, making futsal one of the avenues for the youth.
The State government has welcomed the initiative as a noble idea being the title sponsors for the event, the Sports Department has been very supportive of the endeavour.
