35 beneficiaries under Sikkim Grant of Award for Marriage with Disabled Persons approved by SJWD
Gangtok, December 14: The Disability Section of Social Justice and Welfare Department today called 35 approved beneficiaries under Sikkim Grant of Award for Marriage with Disabled Persons which has provision for one time grant of 2 lakhs per couple. The Programme conducted at Conference Hall of Social Justice and Welfare Department was attended by Shri Tshewang Gyachho Secretary, Social Justice and Welfare Department and Shri Abinash Rai Joint Secretary-cum-Nodal Officer.
The first token for the said scheme was distributed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3rd December, 2020 at Manan Kendra, Gangtok, East Sikkim. A total of 35 Joint Account Demand Draft of State Bank of Sikkim were distributed to the beneficiaries.
The Secretary, Social Justice and Welfare Department asked the gathering to use the money received from the grant judiciously and made aware of the provision provided by the State Government and its implementation by the Department. The Joint Secretary, Shri Abinash Rai highlighted on the nitty gritties of the said scheme and asked the gathering for the dissemination of the information pertaining to this scheme to all the needy people of Sikkim. Further, married couples as beneficiaries were also asked to open up a respective joint account at the respective State Bank of Sikkim, branch where the joint account draft has been addressed to since this being a scheme for marrying disables. The beneficiaries from the four districts were thankful to the Government of Sikkim for the grant for providing such a noble scheme.
