Sikkim records its fourth COVID-19 death, active cases at 424

Gangtok, August 31: Sikkim has reported its fourth COVID-19 related death, informed State IEC Officer, Sonam G. Bhutia in a Health Bulletin issued by the Health Department.

The deceased is a 50-year-old male from Chisopani in Singtam, East Sikkim.
He had co-morbidities like liver cirrhosis and kidney failure prior to testing positive for COVID-19 and was referred to New STNM Hospital, Sochyakgang from Singtam District hospital on August 27.

Medical reports indicate that he had no problems in the lungs. Bhutia informed that since he tested positive for the coronavirus, his death was reported as a COVID-19 death. Further reports are awaited.

He also informed that 25 new cases have been reported in the state taking Sikkim’s total cases tally to 1652, with 424 active cases, 1225 cured and discharged and as of now, four deaths.
